School competition held for the Children's Saligaatsoq 2020

School students have submitted their suggestions and ideas about the waste area.

For the school competition, school classes could win cash prizes for their great suggestions and ideas for the waste area. The school classes were to contribute with possible solution proposals for one of the following categories:

  • Garbage sorting
  • Waste management
  • Waste recycling
  • Minimizing the use of plastic
  • Minimization of waste in nature
  • Collection of waste in the sea

The winners on the coast were Princess Margrethe School, where the Ministry of Research and the Environment has supported with a cash prize. In Nuuk, each school had been assigned a category that the school students had to work with and contribute to ideas within. Nuuk Local Committee donated cash prizes to each school and one school class from each school was selected as the winning class.

CSR Greenland has now begun work on preparing the proposals for recommendations, so that stakeholders in the environmental field can hear the children's wishes in the waste area.
